But worry not; the Embassy of Sweden Dhaka is the official representative of Finland in Bangladesh.
Any short-stay visa, which is known as the Type C visa, will allow you to stay in the Schengen area for up to 90 days. The Embassy of Sweden in Dhaka, Bangladesh, processes only this type of visa in Bangladesh on behalf of Finland. You can use this visa for tourist purposes, visiting family or friends, business visa, transit through the Schengen area and any cultural or sports events.
However, if you want to get a student visa or work visa, which will require you to stay longer than 90 days, then you need to go to the nearest Finnish Embassy, which is located in New Delhi, India.
Finland Visit Visa Requirements for Bangladeshi Nationals
The Embassy of Sweden handles the Finland visa application. So, the documents checklist is the same as when you are applying for a Sweden Schengen visa.
- Visa form- You need to submit the visa form, which can be downloaded online.
- Valid passport- Your passport has to be valid with 2 blank pages for 6 months.
- Photograph – You need to provide passport-sized (45 mm * 35 mm) photographs, and the backgrounds need to be white.
- Proof of accommodation- You must provide your hotel booking confirmation or other means of accommodation. If you are visiting Finland with an invitation letter, your host needs to mention your accommodation details as well.
- Air ticket– You also need to provide a copy of the air ticket booking. The booking can be primary and not confirmed. In fact, the embassy suggests not making any final bookings before you secure your visa.
- Health insurance– Travel health insurance that covers the entire period in the Schengen area with at least 30,000 Euro coverage.
- Bank statements- Showcasing your financial solvency is considered to be very important. So, your personal bank statement for the last 6 months will demonstrate your income and expenses.
- Other financial documents- Other financial documents like FDR, Sanchaypatro, Investment documents, etc, need to be presented. It will clarify the fact that you can support yourself financially during your visit.
- Civil documents- Marriage certificate and birth certificate of your kids, which will show your civil status.
- Cover letter- A cover letter that will declare the purpose of your visit. It would be best if you wrote it by addressing the Embassy of Sweden. A travel plan or day-to-day itinerary should be attached as well.
If you are employed, then you need to provide-
Employment Documents: This is an employment certificate which will be given by your employer. In this certificate, your name, position, salary, and number of years of service need to be stated. The certificate of employment from the company should also include the company’s address, telephone, and fax number. The name and position of the countersigning officer should also be mentioned.
If you are self-employed, then you need to provide-
- Trade license- Your business trade license should be translated and notarized.
- Business bank statement- Bank statement of the company for the last 6 months.
Tax documents- TIN certificate, tax certificate, Acknowledgment copy, and assessment copy of tax documents.
If you are a student then you need to provide-
- Proof of Enrollment: You need to show proof of enrollment at an educational institution in Bangladesh. It can be your student ID card.
Leave of Absence Letter/NOC: This letter of absence should be issued and signed by the head of the department or institution. It will contain your institute’s full address. Phone number, permission of absence, name, and position of the person granting permission. It is a necessary document if you are travelling during the school year.
You need some additional documents if you are travelling for Business Visits-
- Invitation Letter- Without an invitation letter, you can’t prove that you are going to Finland for business purposes. So the company you are visiting needs to give you a letter of invitation. It should cover all the details about the person being invited, the invitation’s duration, and the visit’s purpose.
- Proof of Business Relationship- Proof of recent business contacts with the company you are visiting, such as bills of lading, LC, receipts, contracts, or correspondence.
Ticket/ Payment Receipt– If you are attending a commercial fair or congress, you will need to provide proof of attendance, such as a letter of invitation from the event organizer or proof of registration fee payment.

- Invitation letter- You will need a letter of invitation from the person you are visiting. Our host needs to provide details about your accommodation as well.
Proof of Relationship: You will need to show proof of your relationship with the person you are visiting.

Finland Application Process And Time From Bangladesh
We mentioned earlier that the Embassy of Sweden in Dhaka represents Finland for short-term stay visas, and they collect visa applications from the external service provider (ESP) VFS Global.
First of all, you need to download the visa application form online. Fill it up correctly and collect your documents.
Now that your papers are ready, it’s time to submit them. Directly visit the Sweden Visa Application Center and submit the documents. You have to provide your biometric during your document submission.
Now pay your visa fee, which is 80 euros per applicant. For children between the ages of 6 and 12, the visa fee is 40 euros, and Children under the age of 6 are not required to pay any fee.


Processing time
